Welcome to first grade

Greetings,

Congratulations! And Welcome to another school year, now your child will be moving onto first grade.  We would like to welcome you to the First-Grade Team (Parents – Students – Teachers).

You will notice that your child will be expected to be more independent and responsible for his/her own learning in first grade. Listed below are things your child should be able to do the first day of 1st grade:

  • Know how to write and spell their first name and last name.
  • Copy assignments and weekly spelling words into their agenda.
  • Sit and listen to a story being read aloud for at least 20 minutes.
  • Tie their own shoelaces.
